YAY WRITING! (or: the end of the year as we know it)

end-of-the-year writing meme!

This year, I wrote...um, most of my stories ever. Really! I'd posted one story late in 2005, and then dribs and drabs of Settlement, but that didn't get finished until I came back to Chicago in 2006, and after that...well.

In Stargate: Atlantis, I wrote and finished nine stories, (one of which was a crossover):

Settlement, January 4th (team, gen)

Revelations, January 9th (gen, darkfic, Elizabeth)

Stick Fighting, January 28th (crossover with dS, John/Rodney/Ray/Fraser/Teyla, NC-17)

Kiss Me, I'm An Earthling, April 9th (OT4, R)

Earth Boys Are Easy, April 17th (OT4, NC-17, sequel to the above)

Letting Go (And Letting Fall), posted April 24th on [livejournal.com profile] stargateanon (Ronon, gen)

Previous Motives, May 10th (Teyla, team, gen)

Five True Things, September 9th (Rodney, gen, spoilery for McKay and Mrs Miller)

exceptionally vivid, December 3rd (McKay/Sheppard, PG-13)

*

In due South, I wrote fourteen stories, of which two were crossovers!

Yes, January 24th (F/K, PG-13)

Stick Fighting, January 28th (crossover with SGA, John/Rodney/Ray/Fraser/Teyla, NC-17)

Submersible, February 11th (F/K, R)

At This Juncture, February 17th (gen, crossover with SPN)

Window, March 9th (F/K, R)

Stacks, March 18th (F/K, R)

O My America (the Scientific Method Remix), for [livejournal.com profile] remixredux, late March (F/K, R)

Getting It, April17th (F/V/K, for [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn)

A Man With A (Fucking Fantastic) Plan, May 30th (F/V/K, R, sequel-ish to Getting It)

untitled non-porn, September 8th (F/K)

(not very) sleepy morning sex, September 9th (F/K, for [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn)

"fighting", September 21st (V/K, for [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn)

save your energy (you'll need it in your childbearing years), November 6th (F/V/K, genderfuck, WRONG INSIDE)

And one that really ought to be outside the cut, just for the sake of...well, of being able to jump around and point and say LOOK AT MY STORY: excuse me if i may be staring, December 25th, written for [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl in [livejournal.com profile] ds_seekritsanta (F/V/K, V/K, NC-17)

*

In Supernatural, I wrote...two stories. Of which one was a crossover.

At This Juncture, February 17th (gen, crossover with dS)

Possessions, April 23rd (written for [livejournal.com profile] highwaymiles, which I'd totally forgotten about! gen)

Conclusions: I wrote a lot of smut in due South! And a lot of gen in SGA! I am flexible in my pairings, but I like my smut. Um. Written pairings don't necessarily reflect the pairings I read or ship - I wrote mostly gen or team-porn in SGA, but I read lots of McKay/Sheppard, and I wrote Ray/Ray for [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn, when I hardly ever read it.

I am bad at finishing stories? Which, fine, is only something evident if you've had the chance to look at my "in progress" folder, which currently houses...twenty-one stories in various stages of completion, from the little HEY I SHOULD WRITE A STORY ABOUT THIS to the half-finished challenge prompts to the co-written projects that haven't really been worked on in a while *guiltyface* to the stories that are currently 12,000 words long and stonewalling me.

I didn't do anything fannish over the summer, but that's only to be expected, since I was off in the wilderness with small children and limited everything. (which on a side note, may change this summer! since I have a laptop, now, and so may have the personal space to be a-writering. yay!)

Now, the fun stuff!

My favorite story of this year: I mean, they're kind of all my favorite? but probably exceptionally vivid, just for the sheer pride I have from actually finishing it.

My best story this year: Hmm. Again, I love all of my misshapen babies, so it's hard to choose 'best' - I really love At This Juncture, and O My America (the Scientific Method Remix), both for the structure. Yay ficathons!

Most fun story: God, probably Kiss Me, I'm An Earthling - it's just so happy and lighthearted and ridiculous, and I really do love it. Team love for the win!

Most sexy story:Hmmm - does it say really bad things about me if I say save your energy?

...actually, never mind. I don't care what it says about me; I like my threesomes and I like my genderfuck and I like that story.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Getting It

Fraser's rubbing his hands all over Ray's body, pulling at his nipples and his cock and scraping his nails over Ray's stomach until they both shiver. It's lazy and self-satisfied and absolutely the hottest thing Ray's done in years, including that time with the leather. Fraser's just—he's just showing Ray off, playing with his body, forcing his legs wider and running gentle fingers over the place where Ray is stretched tight around his cock. Ray gasps and moans, grinding back against Fraser, and Fraser bites the side of his neck, just high enough and hard enough for it to show over the collar of Ray's shirt tomorrow.

Um. Yes.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Um? I mean, in January of 2006, I wrote crossover fivesome porn and drove Elizabeth insane...I mean, where do you go from there? But I think the winner here is probably save your energy, again. Threesome genderfuck is about as wrong as you get, yeah?

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Probably Getting It - that was the first time I was really all that interested in Vecchio as a character, and it really changed my take on the dynamic between him and the other two. So, yay?

Hardest story to write: Oh, God, no question - excuse me if i may be staring fought me every step of the way, to the point that one section changed POV twice and tense...three times, maybe? and, I mean, I'm really thrilled with how it turned out, but during the process - that mad scramble on the 16th and 17th - man, ow.

Biggest Disappointment: Probably Previous Motives, which just - I mean, I was happy with it when I finished it? And I'm still happy with it, really, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that, really, it's part of something much longer (which I may or may not ever be able to write).

SImilarly, I really liked Letting Go (And Letting Fall), but it didn't get much notice, which made me a little sad.

Biggest Surprise: Hmmm. Well, any of it, really - I could say Settlement, because I actually wrote it, or Revelations, which still kind of freaks me out, or Stick Fighting, which was the first big crossover and the first filthy porn, or the theesomes or the genderfuck or the threesome genderfuck - really, though, it has to be A Man With A (Fucking Fantastic) Plan, just because that one came up out of nowhere and tore through me in a day and a half. Whirlwind porn!

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: They all have bits and pieces of me in them, in one place or another, and if you ask, I'll tell you which parts those are. Um. By which I mean that I have a hard enough time recognizing myself in the mirror, most days - how do you expect me to recognize myself in text?

Happy January, all!
