sew, a needle pulling thread!

(Ignore the too-tight shirt; it was the only clean white shirt I could find this morning.)

The fabric came from my mom, who went to an ugly fabric swap earlier this week and came home with three or four yards of this stuff; I was already plotting how to best sneak it away from her when she revealed that she had snagged it with me in mind. &mymom; It still needs to be hemmed and probably lined, and I need to put a clasp or something in the back above the zipper, but on the whole, I am pleased! om nom nom PLAID.

...possibly I should be embarrassed that my idea of a rocking Friday night involves quality time with my sewing machine, but fuck that shit, I love my sewing machine. Also I got to use my mom's serger! Which was kind of terrifying but also TOTALLY BADASS.

Today's agenda: draft some more of my lit essay; eat lunch; renew my prescription; stalk the kink meme; maybe continue my adventures in purse-making if I get enough paper done. Oh! And make sun tea.

How are you today, internet?

That skirt is awesome! Did you use a pattern or just make it up as you went? Also, hanging out with the sewing machine and my iPod makes for a fabulous night!

I used a pattern - Butterick's, I think? Whatever was on sale at Joann's yesterday - but mucked with it a little bit to get it to fit just SO. It's supposed to have a belt, too, but I don't think I'm going to bother; it sits so high up on my waist that I'm probably not going to tuck my shirts into it, so the belt would just be lumpy and weird.

awesome crafty people of the world unite! *fistpump of badassery*

So cute! I am at work today, wishing I had more coffee and wondering at what point one is too old to wear knee socks to work. (I am not exactly wearing knee socks today, but I am wearing over-the-knee socks that keep sliding down.)
