OK, all, listen up, because I have a highly important question:
IF, say, I were to write the story in which Rodney and John are transplanted to an alternate universe in which Rodney is a woman, what would female-Rodney's name be? I can't think of any good Anglo-Saxon women's names beginning with R—any thoughts? Although things not beginning with R are also OK, at this point.
Also, is female-Rodney on an offworld team?
John's, or someone else's?
How's that working out for her?
How does she get along with Teyla and Ford/Ronon? (yay for me not knowing what season it is, yet)
and anything else you want to tell me about female-Rodney will be much appreciated, although I can't promise to take your advice.
*sigh*
The problem with this story is that it really doesn't have the structure or the plot to be anything more than total crack, and yet it wants to be plotty and thoughtful and talk about women in academia and gender politics a LOT. Which, yeah, sure, but you kind of need a plotline to keep that from being preachy, and I have to find a term paper topic and do my research and WRITE IT WRITE IT WRITE IT, so 'plot' is going to be beyond me for a while
(note to
riverlight: unless it's for our baby, in which case I can have all the plot you want! kisses!)
But, um. Since I've been thinking about this a bit (ok, a lot):
girl-Rodney: you got sent to Russia?
Rodney, grumpy: yes
g-R: that's really neat—I always wanted to learn Russian, but didn't have the time.
R: yeah, whatever, grumble.
g-R: It's just a really sexy language, I think.
R: *is sex-dazed and scandalized*
R: *speaks about 4 words of Russian*
R: um...that's about all the Russian I speak, sorry...?
g-R: It's ok. I was going to have sex with you anyways.

...somebody hit my brain with sticks, please? but not until you tell me what girl-Rodney's name should be!
