Or, Battlestar Galactica (up through) Episode 2x08: Home, Parts 1 and 2.
I have, seriously, way too much love for this episode. I mean, scary quantities of mad flailing adoration. Bucketfuls of love, truckloads of glee, oceans and seas of fascination and delight.
A few things worth mention (out of order, probably, because linear thought is hard):
- OMG ADAMAS! you're both too proud and too strong for your own damn good, but you unbend for each other, and oh, the love.
- I ship Bill Adama / Laura Roslin. As of right the fuck now, OK? Because they're both amazing, and when they manage to work together? They rock so damn hard it makes me cry.
- Dear Bill Adama, I am glad that you are not dead. Sincerely, Me.
- OK, I'm not a huge fan of spoilers, but: please, please, please tell me that, at some point in the future, Starbuck and Apollo get over their issues long enough to frak. Please. I don't care if they lapse immediately afterwards, and go all crazy and "Hello, we are People With Issues, many of which involve Being Bad At Relationships" on each other. In point of fact, I'd be kind of disappointed if they had sex and it somehow wasn't fraught with awkward emotional and social and political overtones. I mean, I wouldn't want the fact that he loves her (and, additionally: the scene in the locker room, in part one? with Kara throwing the ball? oh god...rewatched a billion times, because they are my FAVORITES. Also, kissing! I like kissing.) and he's clearly important to her (even if she'll never admit it) get in the way of the War and the Pressing Issues they face.
Just, please. Tell me that, for a few hours at least, they make each other happy in a dirty, sweaty, naked way.
and, failing that, point me to the smutfic
- Billy! Oh, Billy. You're the least screwy of all of them, and you and Dee are totally cute, and you're such a Roslin fanboy that it makes my heart ache.
- I really don't want to think that Baltar/blonde cylon hallucination chick (does she have a name? what is it?) is hot...but, you know me: I'm Wrong Inside. I also think that Gaius is cute, in an irredemably fucked up sort of way.
- Boomer and her boyfriends! not as much sexy as the Mountie and his boyfriends, but still interesting. Something's gotta give, clearly...
- I love Kara's randomass talents, which are coming out the wazoo. Hello, Starbuck, you are not only MADE OF SEX, you're an intelligent, interesting, and well-rounded person. You're officially my new TV girlfriend.
- ...I want to say something profound and interesting about the story arc, and they way they're setting up personal choice as being as important as, if not more important than, your situation or your biology. However, it's almost 3 AM, so I think that I...won't.
I really shouldn't watch more—sure, the ep is downloaded, but it'll be there tomorrow, and I really need to sleep if I'm going to impersonate a human being tomorrow, not to mention work on my WIPs, cook dinner, and write F/K involving the two of them watching BSG.
but BSG is SHINY SHINY SHINY, and somehow I suspect that sleep is at least another fourty-two minutes away.
PS: OMG I NEED A BSG ICON! I CANNOT SQUEE WITHOUT AN ICON! *ponders which of the six will have to go in order to make room for the amazingness that is Kara Thrace*
