Skimming over the headlines, my eyes catch on this:
Atlantis Is Readied for Launch on Wednesday.
The space shuttle, of course, but it took me way too long to figure that one out.
Brother starts school tomorrow, which means the whole family will be up and tromping around in the kitchen (read: right above my head) at 6h00 tomorrow. Not Fun.
But! This is fun!
*Rodney and Ingram are fighting; John and John arrive*
All of a sudden, she stopped, and turned to to look at the other Sheppard with an intent, astonished stare.
"Are you defending my honor, here?" she asked. Sheppard flushed, and muttered something nonsensical, and Ingram stared at him, tapping one finger on the edge of the desk. "Wow," she said finally, "I can't decide whether to be really touched or really fucking offended." She ended the sentence on a shout, and there went the other Sheppard's claim that Ingram McKay wasn't a shouter. "What," she added, rolling her eyes, "you didn't think I'd be able to protect myself from myself." Other Sheppard was looking really embarrassed, which made sense, but which also made John feel really bad for him; he was about to step in when Rodney did it for him.
"Well," he said, tilting his head thoughtfully to one side, "I have been told that I'm my own worst enemy." Ingram stared at him, then leaned back against the table, shaking her head and laughing.
"I don't think that's quite what Julie Godfrey was talking about, Rodney," she said, and then it was Rodney's turn to stare at her.
"Wait, wait," he said, hands waving confusedly, "she said that to you, too? What was the context?"
"Tell you later, Rodney," she said, turning back to Sheppard. "As for you, how about that training session you've been bothering me for? I feel like some mindless violence would be good right about now." Sheppard swallowed hard, and John couldn't blame him: Ingram was little, but she was angry, and looked totally ready to take someone out.
"Come on, Ingram," Sheppard began, but she waved his objections away.
"You've only yourself to blame, you know," she said, shutting down her laptop and collecting the papers that she and Rodney had scattered across the table. "You strongarm me into self-defence lessons, and then you complain when my response to stress is to hit things as hard as possible." She headed for the door, but turned back when she realized that nobody was following her. "Well?"
Sheppard turned to John, his eyes pleading. "Want to come along?"
"Well, I do," Rodney answered, rushing through his own clean-up. "This should be entertaining, if nothing else." John shrugged.
"Yeah, why not?"
Plus: transition resolved! Now I have the in for the scene in which John is Defeated By Means Of Unexpected Breasts.
