It is really very good, Liz! I wasn't that into it the first time I tried watching it, because it is really pretty depressing and EVERYBODY IS A TERRIBLE PERSON...but it totally grows on you, and even the people who are terrible people wind up being sympathetic, and it's so fucking smart and well-plotted and well-acted that I cannot actually handle myself sometimes.

:DDDDDDDDDDDD LET ME TELL YOU THINGS.

The Wire is a TV show about...well, Baltimore, in a general sense, and the drug trade there, and the people involved with it from both/all sides, but mostly (for me at least) it's a show about how people are not mostly good or mostly evil but mostly PEOPLE. It is fucked-up and frequently really upsetting but also enthralling and frequently hilarious in a gallows-humor way.

Stringer Bell is a character on the show - he's basically a drug lord, but his entire philosophy is that if people can sell dope without conflict? Then that is what they should do. He takes night classes at a community college and lectures his underlings about economics, and also he has a bff/lifemate/boyfriend. Who is also a drug lord. AND BASICALLY HE HAS BALLS OF TITANIUM AND I KIND OF ADORE HIS FACE AND HIS SCARY, SCARY BRAIN.

Honey Moon is not actually called that anymore, apparently - it's Blue Moon's summer seasonal, and it has honey and orange peel and it is tasty.
