dear yultider letter goes HERE !
Oh, yuletider! first off, you are always and forever my favorite for offering to write in any one of these fandoms, and I will be 100% delighted by whatever you write, because it will be a story! for me! I may or may not be able to comment when Yuletide actually goes live, for reasons of family, but rest assured that I will be INCREDIBLY pleased regardless.
So, no pressure! but if you're looking for some guidelines...
Generally, I don't care for: death, pining that doesn't get resolved, rape, torture and abuse, incest.
Generally, I like: shenanigans, snappy dialogue, domesticity, porn, teams, stories about characters teaching and learning, stories about making the world a better place, stories about found families, stories about local government, stories with kittens in them, stories with babies in them, smart and competent characters, characters who have to make difficult decisions, absurdly codependent bff pairings, outsider POV, obliviousness, awkwardness, pining that gets resolved, roadtrips, bodyswap, telepathy, fucking around with gender, cross-dressing, fake dating / pretending to be married, epistolary fic, libraries, historical retellings, cuddling (for warmth or otherwise), characters taking care of each other, any character that could ever be described as 'longsuffering', negotiation of kinks, threesomes and moresomes, open relationships negotiated well, stories with sex toys in them, shenanigans. ALL OF THE TROPES, GIVE THEM TO ME.
Specifically:
• The Unusuals: I want Walsh, Shraeger, and Beaumont having adventures, and the more ridiculous and cliché-filled, the better. Undercover dating, road trips for great justice, bodyswap, mind reading...anything that involves these three being the ridiculous badasses they are.
I ship Walsh and Beaumont together like nobody's business, and I ship Schraeger and her not-appearing-in-these-character-options fellow, so if you wanted to write me a slice-of-life story where everybody is kickass and competent and happy with their lives even when shit gets ridiculous, I would be DELIGHTED. On the other hand, if you wanted to write me threesomes, moresomes, or open relationships with these characters, I would also be delighted! Your call!
Also, I love the poor longsuffering dispatcher, so if she could be there in some capacity, that would be awesome.
• Darkangel Trilogy: I've always been incredibly curious about what Aeriel and Erin did AFTER the series - adventures? shenanigans? hot lesbian sex? I would especially love to read the version of their story that gets handed down as legend, hundreds of years later.
I don't know, I think this pretty much sums itself up. MORE AERIEL. MORE ERIN. And none forGretchen Wieners Prince Irrylath, bye.
• Pitch Perfect: ANYTHING. I would read what-happened-next fic, with or without canon relationships; I would read backstory OR futurefic about Chloe and Aubrey being secret lesbians together and not actually fooling anybody; I would read ANYTHING AT ALL WHATSOEVER about Cynthia Rose being the queen of absolutely everything.
Again, I think this is pretty self-explanatory? Basically, I loved how much of this movie was awesome ladies supporting each other in their awesomeness, and I would love to have some more of that. Lesbianism is appreciated (I love lesbians!) but not required - codependent BFF-ery also pleases me greatly.
• Tomboy: I really want futurefic in this fandom - Mikaël and Lisa, all grown up (or thinking that they're grown up, at least) and what they go on to do with their lives. Exploring Mikaël's genderqueer/trans- identity would be absolutely amazing.
I really loved the slow, sweet tone of this movie, and I loved Mikaël and Lisa and their awkward tiny child friendship. I just want to see those two crazy kids make things work for them - whether they do that as a couple or just as codependent BFFs is up to you. I want Mikaël to be happy, whatever else happens - obviously the situation is going to be tough, and you shouldn't feel the need to shy away from that, but I would greatly prefer that it not end in tragedy and despair.
As ever, if you have any questions,
soundslikej is a good reference point for things I will and will not like. And if you're not feeling inspired on the fandom that we've been matched in, let me remind you that Tomboy and Pitch Perfect are both relatively short movies - Tomboy is on Netflix, last I checked - The Unusuals is a really short TV series, and the Darkangel Trilogy is a 3-book YA series! And all of them are awesome pieces of media in their own right. You have options, is what I'm saying. And also, THANK YOU. ♥!
