A Query:

So for reasons that don't need explaining that this juncture (mostly TEACHER DISCOUNTS FUCK YEAH), I'm considering moving my phone service to T-Mobile and replacing my phone at the same time. Do any of you fine humans (esp. those of you in the Northeast) use T-Mobile? On the phone-companies scale, how much does it suck? Are there phones you would or would not recommend in particular? TELL ME THINGS.

In other news, J is covered in kittens and we are both off work for a week and a half. Victory is ours, great day in the morning, &c.

There was a thing on Slate the other day about how T-Mobile has a thing where you pay for an iphone up front (Eeep, $600), but then your plan works out to be, something like, $1500 cheaper over two years. Dunno is that would make sense with teacher discounts or if you even want an iphone, but if you Had $600, they thought it was a great deal.

I also have a work related T-Mobile discount although that first bill was not the discount I wanted it to be. I've only had it for a month so I'm not sure yet if it'll really be a discount for month 2. I have a Galaxy S Relay which was free and my first real android phone. So far, so good on that piece.

I has t-mo!!!!

It's cheap, the customer service is fine. They've mostly solved every problem I've ever called them about, I rarely lose reception and have 4G almost everywhere.

The downsides are that the data plan is not entirely unlimited, there isn't a ton of selection wrt phones, and when you DO lose/break a phone, even with the ins, it's costly. WHY IS THERE A DEDUCTIBLE. SO AGGREVATING.

But I'd never switch out, so I guess I recommend!

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and love it. I am super biased towards android phones as whole, because you can use it as a memory stick, it lets you drag video of all types onto it and play it on screen, there's more variety of apps and file types that can be used. I can torrent a .rar file, unzip it, and then play it, all on my phone. I fucking love it, especially because I can rarely use my work computer for non work related things.

On the other hand, the battery is about as great as a laptops. Of course, I use it ALL DAY. I'm actually not sure how long it lasts if you leave it alone more often than not, because I have mine in hand almost constantly.
