pearl_o: but the first one he is big enough to actually, you know, be fun for!

etben: like, monthwise
etben: okay
pearl_o: so, 8 months for first christmas. 20 months for this one.

etben: the first christmas is probably really low-key

etben: i have no idea what either of those bands were doing then

pearl_o: this christmas jamie is old enoguh to kind of understand the concept of santa.

etben: and also because jamie is basically too small to remember anything, and they are being pragmatic

etben: they all wind up getting together for that one

etben: and, like, actually sleeping in hotels or other people's houses, mostly
etben: but spending ALL DAY EVERY DAY at the hosue
etben: with baby jamie running around, crashing into people's knees

etben: but at the same time? when the boy wants a momma, he wants his MOMMAS.
pearl_o: he's like "JJJUH" and Gerard is like "I'm here! You want me to pick you up! Yeah, let's read your favorite book! ALicia, where's his bottle?"
etben: and mikey and alicia are all vaguely smug about him liking them best (which he very very clearly does)
pearl_o: And Mikey and Alicia are like "...We're trying to make him say 'up' first." And they all ignore him.

etben: and, yeah - lots of singing to baby jamie
etben: lots of arguments in re: appropriate songs to sing to a baby

etben: and then probably one night jamie throws a tantrum
etben: like, a real screaming and throwing shit tantrum

etben: he pegs gerard with a shovel, right in the middle of the forehead

pearl_o: imagine how hard gee has to keep from saying motherfucker!

etben: and they're all crowding around, wanting to be the one that can fix him
etben: but he just keeps screaming and screaming and screaming
etben: and pretty soon it's just SAD

etben: like - it's just DISTRESSING, how upset he is
etben: and a little worrying
etben: ...probably this is a day when mikey and alicia have gone off to do something fun - go to a movie? - leaving their infant son in the EVER SO CAPABLE HANDS of his father, his father's band, and his mother's band
etben: and so of COURSE jamie, otherwise a very well-behaved infant, waits approximately twenty minutes before he starts to SCREAM

pearl_o: Patrick is like "pete, you can't just give him candy"
pearl_o: and Pete is like "shit, this always works with hemmy, though"

etben: and so probably jamie is just starting to cry himself out when mikey and alicia get home, curled up in this tiny miserable ball on bob's chest
etben: with all of the rest of them scattered around the living room in various stages of drooled-on/hit-on-the-head/screamed-at/exhausted

etben: and alicia just walks right over and scoops him up and starts cooing to him, and they're all waiting to see him EXPLODE IN A SUPERNOVA OF BABYRAGE

etben: and asks, quite reasonably, "what the hell does she have that we don't?"
